The Annual New Fairfield Lions Club’s July 4th Parade will take place on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023. The parade Kicks Off at 9:30am on CT-Route 37 and continues into the center of town turning right onto Brush Hill Road continuing past the Grandstand in front of Town Hall. An awards ceremony with the presentation of trophies for best floats and groups in the parade will take place at the Lions Gazebo on Memorial Field. Snacks and beverages will be served by the New Fairfield Lions Club.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Robert “Bob” Jano, honoring his 51 Years of dedicated community service to our town as a member of the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department since 1972. Over the years, Bob has served New Fairfield in many other capacities. He served on the New Fairfield Planning Commission from 1973 to 1980. During his tenure, the Commission developed the town’s first Master Plan in conjunction with the State. The plan laid out the groundwork for future land use and development in town including planning for school campuses, shopping centers, zoning acreage, and location of police and emergency services. He also served on the Zoning Board of Appeals from 1995 to 2009 and has been a member of the town’s Republican National Committee since 2005. Since 1985 he has been part of the volunteer Fire/Police Department, a group that maintains order on roads during an accident or traffic issue. He also serves as an usher at St. Edward the Confessor Parish.

Please join us in celebrating our country’s independence and to honor all those who served, and those who continue to serve, so we may live free and safe in the United States of America. You are welcome to bring your lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the parade. The best areas to set up your chairs and blankets will be along Route 37 from the Senior Center down to the traffic light and on the grassy areas in front of the library and across the road at the shopping center. Warning, many families in town get an early start and set up their family’s traditional viewing spot hours before the parade. Wear your “Best & Brightest” Red, White & Blue outfits and make signs and banners to celebrate the Fourth of July. We also welcome all those viewing the parade to take lots of photos of themselves, their family, the parade and post or tag them on the New Fairfield Lions Club Facebook page: www.facebook.com/newfairfieldlionsclub.

If you or your group would like to march in the parade, please complete the application on the Lions website at: e-clubhouse.org/sites/newfairfieldct. The application deadline is Friday, June 30th.
